Timelapse of $645 million cruise ship being built is entrancing
Truly, cruise ships have never been so interesting
If you are anything like us, chances are you haven’t spent a whole lot of time wondering about how cruise ships get built. Also, chances are you will start spending a lot more time thinking about that very subject after staring transfixed all the way through this eight-plus-minute timelapse video of AIDA Cruises’ new flagship, AIDAprima, being put together in Nagasaki. The enormous boat can hold 3,300 passengers and 900 crew members and cost $645 million to build. Truly, cruise ships have never before been so incredibly interesting.

When we built our “Net-Zero-Energy” Building for the U.S. Department of Energy’s “Solar Decathlon” competition last year (see: www.ccnysolardecathlon.com), we wanted to document the construction of this project in a cutting-edge timelapse format.
Although there were several firms in New York that offered this service, we chose to select MK timelapse for several reasons:
○ quality of MK timelapse’s recording equipment, which was superior to other competitors;
○ customer service: from the beginning on it was obvious that MK timelapse’s motivation went beyond a commercial product; they were highly motivated to collaborate within our organizational structure, and produce a high-end product;
Working with MK timelapse was indeed great. Their speed and professionalism, their efficient approach and above all the stunning quality of their work was much more than we hoped to achieve. If we would approach a similar project again, the choice would be clear, based on our most positive experience: We would choose MK timelapse again: They are welcome to work for us in NYC at anytime.

Beautifully Filmed Industrial Timelapse Shows A Cruise Ship Undergoing Substantial Renovation
A few years ago, the cruise ship Balmoral was extended by shipbuilding company Blohm + Voss, and the company hired a crew to create a timelapse video of the entire process. What may seem like a rather mundane project to many has been beautifully captured by a company called MK Timelapse – I found myself absolutely mesmerized by the entire process. MK’s site is well worth a visit if you are interested in large-scale commercial timelapse work, as well.
But perhaps the most fascinating thing to me is how one lands these commissions; it must have taken years and years of hard work and planning. Not to mention the insurance coverage needed to work on a location like this! Hats off to the guys at MK Timelapse for doing such a fantastic job and creating a great business that captures such a process so well.

The cooperation with MKtimelapse was very fruitful. Their team contrived to accent the features of our yachts without hurting the typical privacy of these projects.

To show the high quality of our projects and services we were looking for an adequate partner in quick-motion. Finally Moos & Kurrat was the perfect match. Their truly high standard in technical and visual aspects combined with reliability and professional execution makes them a preferred partner for quick-motion especially when documenting challenging and extraordinary projects.
Andreas Eder, Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications, ALPINE Group
In the 28 MWp solar project “Giebelstadt” we contracted MK timelapse for live cam pictures for our website, and for a 3 minute film about the project.
We would like to thank you and your team very much for a great and perfect job on this project. Even due to the difficulty of the area (large area, airport field, short deadlines) you have performed perfectly. Every live picture we have seen and the film is amazing. Especially the telescopic mast system in combination with the other hard and software as well as your customer orientated and flexible business behaviour is unique. We are looking forward to the next projects with you and your team.

MKtimelapse convinced us with not only a very high quality of work that is hard to find in the market, but also with their experience of shipyard work. They were able to address all concerns from the Japanese yard and bring them on board for the creation of an outstanding construction movie for our new flagship.
